Cars and SmartPhones: The Next Goldrush
Cars, smartphones, and the Internet are merging, and the demand for compatible software and apps is exploding. A recent blog post by the New York Times, The Next Boom in Mobile Devices is the Car, discusses digital software innovations in automobiles that are creating significant opportunities for software developers.

“Three to five years from now, 100 percent [of new cars] will be connected [online]. You’ll see diagnostics, calls when the airbag goes off, real-time traffic reports, [and] entertainment in the back seat,” says Glenn Lurie, president of AT&T’s Emerging Devices business in the article.

Whether it’s interactive maps, or games that keep kids busy, innovative developers are scrambling  to invent the next wave of automobile apps.
