The Six Main Functions of a Product Development Organization, Gary L. Felberbaum (PDF)
Abstract:
A Product Development Organization is ordinarily not seen as a collective whole. By identifying the main functions of the organization, rather than the people who carry out those function, it is easier to see where there may be gaps in a particular organization. The article briefly outlines the six (6) main functions to create a functional picture of a Product Development Organization.
The Ideal Development Organization, Judi G. Otton (PDF)
Abstract:
Although the Ideal Development Organization (IDO) does not exist as such, it is a useful point of reference for assessing where a given Product Development Organization stands relative to an idealized benchmark. The article discusses the four (4) main stakeholder groups whose perspectives must be balanced to move toward this ideal. The IDO concept offers an insight into how problems can naturally arise in development as result of differing perspectives.
