Advanced Decisions - Software & Hardware Services

What We Look For In A Consultant

Advanced Decisions hires professionals who balance technical skills and personal qualities throughout their work history. As consultants, it is our role to lead by example and show our clients the kind of judgment and decision-making that is required for expert software and hardware development. The following are the key criteria we use to evaluate applicants:

How you balance Understanding & Action. Advanced Decisions looks for individuals who listen well, ask questions and take the perspective of the client. In many cases, though, in-depth understanding is constrained by deadlines and milestones. We expect our consultants to have the judgment to know when to listen and when to act and move forward.

How you balance Theory & Practice. Lifelong learning is necessary for knowledge workers, and we only hire consultants who seek to understand not just how something works, but also why it works the way it does. We give substantial credibility to hands-on experience and learning-by-doing. Our consultants have the theoretical knowledge they need to have conversations at various levels of abstraction, and the practical know-how to convert ideas into reality.

How you balance Focus & Openness. A good strategic thinker is focused on what comes next, and often has an end-state in mind before beginning. However, for extremely complex tasks, or assignments with a changing environment, this is not necessary or desirable. We hire consultants who demonstrate an ability to concentrate on what needs to be done, but also step back and explore alternative options when appropriate.

How you balance Quality & Effectiveness. Advanced Decisions Consultants have a high standard for their work products and expect the same level of quality from those around them. They offer corrective feedback where necessary, but also balance their own standards with the standard of the client, the team and the project goals. Our Consultants are constantly faced with judgments over quality and effectiveness, and they are able to keep the long-term focus in mind and make solid decisions.
